Frances Mary (Karlik) Kolar, age 99, of West, passed away late Saturday night, January 28, 2012 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Kolar was born on August 12, 1912 in West, the daughter of Josef and Anna (Divin) Karlik. She attended St. Mary's School. On January 13, 1942, she was united in marriage to Edward R. Kolar. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1990. Frances was a Mother and homemaker. She also helped on the family farm and worked as a nurse's aide at West Rest Haven from 1968 to 1982. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Frances was also a member of the K.J.Z.T. Society. She enjoyed quilting, working in her flower beds and cooking, She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Frances is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edward Kolar Jr.; four brothers, Joe C. Karlik, Frank Karlik, Ludvik Karlik, and Bohuslav "Tim" Karlik; and four sisters, Mary T. Karlik, Anna Karlik, Christine Kolar, and Rosie Holecek. Survivors include two sons, Louie Kolar of West and Ernest Kolar and wife Mary of Abbott; two daughters, Bernice Hornak and husband Albert and Magdalen Kolar, all of West; four grandchildren, Albert Hornak Jr. and wife Belinda, Melinda Lucas and husband Josh, Ernie Kolar Jr. and wife Emily and Catherine Kolar; four great grandchildren, Garrett Brunson and Madison, Joel, and Molly Lucas; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Albert Hornak Jr., Ernie Kolar Jr., Josh Lucas, Billy Karlik, James Bates, Garret Brunson, Gerald Barak Jr., August Kocian Jr., and Justin Filer. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or West Rest Haven Activity Fund.
