Fay Nell (Willard) Gant, age 78, of West, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2007 at West Rest Haven. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, John J. Talbert will give the Eulogy. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Gant was born on February 6, 1929 in Waco, the daughter of J. D. and Bennie Ellis (Shriver) Willard. She attended school in Waco and was a graduate of Waco High School. On July 30, 1948, she was united in marriage to Don Gant in Waco. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1982. Fay was a homemaker before enrolling in McLennan Community College where she received her licensed vocational nursing certification in the early 1970's. She then went to work for Dr.'s Crosswaite, Berry and Angel for over ten years. In 1978 Fay and Don moved to West and became faithful members of the First Baptist Church where she served on the Women's Missionary Union. She was also a member of the West Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Fay enjoyed gardening, oil painting, and crocheting. Her parents and a brother, Dan Willard, also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Michael Gant and wife Leisa of West and Paul Gant of Bellmead; one daughter, Donna Kay Reed of Bellville; one sister, Lavada Talbert and husband John of Josephine; three grandchildren, Christopher Reed and wife Sarah, Amanda Middlebrook and husband Eddie, and Katherine Gant; three great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, George Gant and Joe Fortson; sisters-in-law, Margaret Wells and Barbara Willard; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of West Building Fund.
