Faron Buchanan, age 100, of Waco, passed away early Sunday morning, July 8, 2012 at Crestview Manor in Waco. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, with the Rev. Jeff Fritscher officiating. Mrs. Buchanan was born April 1, 1912 in Waco, the daughter of Elmore and Minnie Bell (Caldwell) Roberts. She attended schools in Waco and graduated from Waco High School in 1929. She then graduated from 4-C Business College in 1931. On August 5, 1935 she was united in marriage to Tilley Saunders Buchanan in Dallas. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1983. Faron worked for L.M. Kizer Claims Service for 42 years before her retirement. She also was the editor of the Latin Newspaper for Waco High. Faron was a member of the Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She loved to read and also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing card games with family and friends. Faron is also preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Ronny Rigney; a grandson, Bucky Rigney; a brother, Harold Lee Roberts; and a sister, Annable Burell. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Rigney of Waco and Kay Buchanan of Owings Mill, MD; a grandson, Charlie Rigney and wife Elizabeth of Waco; six great grandchildren, William Rigney, Reagan Rigney, Amber George and husband Tony, Joshua Rigney and wife Marcie, Brandon Rigney and wife Amanda, and Talon Rigney; four great great grandchildren, Holden, Collin, Grant, and Indiana; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waco ISD Education Foundation, P.O. Box 2369, Waco, TX. 76701.
