Evelyn Stuckly

Evelyn Mary Stuckly, age 88, of Penelope, passed away early Sunday morning, November 28, 2021 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Church of the Nativity, BVM in Penelope, with Rev. Brijil Lawrence as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near Penelope. Evelyn was born May 22, 1933 in Hill County near Penelope, the daughter of Charlie and Mary (Mynar) Mikuda. She was a 1950 graduate of Penelope High School. On November 22, 1950 she was united in marriage to Elton "Shorty" Stuckly in Penelope. Shorty preceded her in death on April 20, 2007. Evelyn was a faithful member of the Church of the Nativity, BVM in Penelope. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 and RVOS Lodge #49, where she served as secretary for 55 years. Evelyn was a homemaker, Mother and a farmer. She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, working puzzles, tending to her rose garden, fishing, camping, picking and shelling pecans, and talking on the phone with her friends and relatives. Evelyn was known for her homemade chicken noodle soup, buchtas, banana pudding, and chocolate chip cookies. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Evelyn is also preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Eddy Herring; and a grandson, Michael Sheard. Survivors include her children, Darlene Herring of Waco, Dr. Elton Stuckly Jr. and wife Peggy of Ross, and Charlotte Hromadka and husband James of Penelope; a brother, George Mikuda; her grandchildren, Cory Herring, Delton Stuckly and wife Patti, Angela Laukaitis and husband Robert, Jimbo Hromadka and wife Megan, Elaine Rodriguez and husband Dustin, Amy Keel and husband Heath, and Chip Sheard and wife Rene; her great grandchildren, Edward, Aidan, Logan, Emily, Alayna, Madison, April, Skylar, Ashley, Madyson, McKenzie, Kennedy, Perry, Camden, and Maren; great great grandsons, Christopher and Anthony; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Cory Herring, Delton Stuckly, Jimbo Hromadka, Robert Laukaitis, Dustin Rodriguez, Heath Keel and Chip Sheard. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Bobby Daggs, Jack Hawkins, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery Association in Penelope. The family would like to extend their thanks to her doctors, caregivers, and everyone at Providence Hospice Place.
