Evelyn Makovy

Evelyn Ann "Evie" Makovy, age 75, of Mount Calm, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 14, 2023 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by a visitation till 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope, with Deacon Terry Timmons officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Penelope.

Evelyn was born August 13, 1947 in Mount Calm, the daughter of the late Edward and Josephine (Bezdek) Makovy. She attended Penelope High School. Evelyn was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope. She was a caretaker to her mother and daddy during their final years. Evelyn also worked for West Rest Haven, Western Auto in West, Friendship Cafe in West, and Cameron Mills in Waco for many years. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, gardening, making pillows and lap covers, collecting rocks and die cast cars, and playing with her dog "Sparky".

Survivors include her sister, Donna Hawkins and husband Jack of Mount Calm; a brother, Edward "Jimmy" Makovy Jr. and wife Patsy of Abbott; nephews, Josh Hawkins and wife Jessica, and Shane Hawkins and wife Trina; great nephews and nieces, Jase, Jocelyn, Halle, Heidi and Zane Hawkins; and many other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are Shane Hawkins, Josh Hawkins, Sonny Tlustos, John Ondrej Jr., Michael Bezdek, and Kelly Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Aunt Dorothy Dyer and all of the cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Penelope Fire Department or Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.
