Evelyn (Hoffmeyer) Baker, age 87, of Elm Mott, passed away late Tuesday evening, March 2, 2021 at the Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald, with Rev. Jeff Richter officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are required at all services. Evelyn was born February 11, 1934 in Mart, the daughter of Willie and Beulah (Smith) Hoffmeyer. She was a 1952 graduate of Marlin High School, and attended Hill College, Temple College and McLennan Community College. Evelyn proudly served her country in the United States Air Force stationed at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston where she worked at the base hospital in medical supply before being honorably discharged in 1956. Evelyn was a lifelong Christian and was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and worked as an elevator operator at the Alico Building in Waco and at Burlington Mills in West. Evelyn enjoyed listening to music and going to church. She loved spending time with her daughter and was known as a very devoted mother. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Chesley Hoffmeyer and Lawrence Hoffmeyer. Survivors include her beloved daughter, Carol Baker of Elm Mott; a brother, Ernest Hoffmeyer and wife Nell of Rockdale; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald, Alzheimer's Association or West Ministerial Alliance.
