Evelyn Kelinske, age 92, of Elm Mott, passed away early Saturday afternoon, February 13, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, surrounded by her loving family. She attended school in Ross and graduated from West High School in 1945. On March 6, 1948 she was united in marriage to Floyd Kelinske. Floyd preceded her in death. Evelyn was a faithful and long time member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald, Texas. She loved hearing her grandchildren sing “Seek ye First” at the front of the church. Her favorite hymn was “Jesus Calls Us O’er the Tumult,” especially when played on the piano by her granddaughter Chelsey. She worked for the American-Amicable Life Insurance Company in Waco, and was also a homemaker and mother. Evelyn enjoyed working on the farm, canning vegetables, listening and dancing to polka music, eating her chocolate candy, going out to eat, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Waco Stroke Club and the Women’s Guild at her church. Her favorite meals were home-cooked turkey with dressing and cranberry sauce, chicken and dumplings, and fried chicken! Her motto for life was “Eat good, sleep good!” Evelyn overcame many obstacles in her life, including a life-altering stroke, the West Fertilizer Plant Explosion, and a leg amputation, all while maintaining her tough spirit and strong faith, which will be carried on by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include her 4 children, Nelson Kelinske, and wife Moni of Germany, Brenda Niekamp, and husband Ken of Riesel, Kathy Crye of Lorena, and Connie Monthie of West; 13 grandchildren, Dan (Nicole) Kelinske, Josh Kelinske, Candice (Bill) Dibble, Jeremy (Taylor) Niekamp, Corbin (Ashley) Niekamp, Landan (Isabel) Durham, Davey Durham, Chelsey Crye, Calley (Jeff) Gerik, Cassidey Crye, Christian Monthie, Kaylee Monthie, and Karis Monthie; along with her 7 great-grandchildren; beloved cousin, Carol Snider; and many other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are her loving grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Schutza, Dennie Schutza, and Dennis Debbendener. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gerald Cemetery Association at P.O. Box 345 Elm Mott, Texas 76640.
