Evelyn (Adams) Moon, age 91, of West, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 3, 2013 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Graveside services will be held 12 noon Thursday at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Billy Mack Patteson officiating. Evelyn was born May 4, 1922 in West, the daughter of Downman T. and Dorothy Evelyn (Lindsay) Adams. She attended West schools and graduated from West High School in 1939. She then attended Hill Junior College in Hillsboro and graduated from Baylor University in 1948 with a degree in education. Evelyn taught business at West High School for several years. On September 26, 1941, she was united in marriage to Charles J. Moses in West. He lost his life in Germany during World War II on November 2, 1944. Evelyn was then united in marriage to David E. Moon on April 18, 1952 in West. Evelyn was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and playing bridge. Evelyn was a lifelong and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in West where she played the piano for over 60 years. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack Adams. Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, David Moon of West; a son, Charles J. Moses Jr. of Mansfield; a daughter, Lindsay Moon Pierce and husband Bill of Dallas; a sister, Ann Webb and husband John; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Moses, Scott Moses and wife Rene, Kyle Moses, Mary Evelyn Pierce and Blake Pierce; great grandsons, Christopher Moses and Stephen Moses; and many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Fund, West Volunteer Ambulance Association or First United Methodist Church of West.
