Eva (Zivec) Sehnal, age 87, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 7, 2024 in Florida.
Private Memorial Services at West Brethren Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Eva was born on March 24, 1937, in the Czech Republic, to Bohumil and Anna (Fabian) Zivec. At a young age, Eva and her family left their home country and spent time in a refugee camp in Italy as Eva was believed to have contracted tuberculosis, which delayed their application to enter the United States by three years. After overcoming this setback, Eva and her family arrived in Texas when she was 13. They settled in the small town of West, Texas, where Eva attended school despite only speaking Czech. As an adult, Eva lived in several states, including New York, New Jersey, Oregon, and Virginia, before moving to Century Village, Florida to be closer to her children. Eva believed in giving back to her community as a volunteer and also served as a cheerleader for the Sailing Club. Throughout her life, Eva was known for her kind heart and her dedication to helping others in need. Her friends and family admired her as a hardworking and compassionate individual who was always there for those who knew her.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Sehnal; an infant sister, Libby Zivec; her sister, Hana Jackson; and her brother, Peter Milos Zivec.
Survivors include her daughters, Eva Rachesky of Lake Worth, FL, and Michelle Sehnal of West Palm Beach, FL; her grandsons, Michael Rachesky, Scott Rachesky, and Dakota Sehnal; a great grandson, Maddox Rachesky; two brothers, Bob and Jerry Zivec; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Brethren Cemetery Association.
