Eula Jean (Griffin) Chapman, age 84, of Lorena, passed away late Thursday evening, February 29, 2024 at Providence Village in Waco.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Hewitt, with Rev. Chris Sammons officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
Jean was born August 19, 1939 in Hamlin, Texas, the daughter of John and Ruby Faye (Hudson) Griffin. She was a 1958 graduate of Midway High School. On July 26, 1958 she was united in marriage to Robert C. "Bob" Chapman in Hewitt. Jean was a member of First Baptist Church of Hewitt, where she loved to volunteer and share her talents. She worked as a records clerk for the Baylor Alumni Center for 20 years before retiring in 2002. She also worked for the West ISD as a secretary and aide at the old Ross School from 1976 to 1981. Jean enjoyed camping, sewing, gardening, and going to any Baylor games. She loved spending time with her family, especially watching her children and grandchildren participate in their many sporting events. Her greatest joy was being Mammaw to her precious grand and great grandchildren.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Bill Hannes; her brothers, Freddy and Richard Griffin; and her sisters, Johnnie Hastings and Juanita Auberry.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 65 years, Bob Chapman of Lorena; her daughters, Pam Hannes of Clifton, Brenda Boyd and husband Bret of Rockport, and Wendy Jamison and husband Alan of Rockport; her grandchildren, Billy Hannes and wife Kayla, Megan Pervier and husband Ryan, Brandi Boyd, Beau Boyd and wife Brittney, Tamara Diemer and husband Neal, and Seth Jamison; her great grandchildren, Grey Hannes, Avie Hannes, Vivie Hannes, Gage Pervier, Lillie Pervier, Bree Boyd, Brynn Boyd, Hannah Diemer, Eden Diemer, and Stone Diemer; a brother, Cecil Griffin and wife Dale; a sister, JoRetta Bryan and husband James; her sisters-in-law, Joyce Griffin and Bobi Griffin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers are Billy Hannes, Beau Boyd, Seth Jamison, Neal Deimer, and Ryan Pervier. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Hastings, Bobby Auberry, Richard Griffin, Randy Griffin, Ronny Griffin, David Griffin, and Darren Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hewitt.
