Eugene Hosek

Eugene Raymond Hosek, age 89, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, April 22, 2023 at West Rest Haven in West.

A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard.

Eugene was born July 30, 1933 in Three Oaks, Texas the son of Charlie and Annie (Supak) Hosek. He was a 1950 graduate of Poth High School. On April 16, 1955 he was united in marriage to Martha Holub in Penelope. Martha preceded him in death on November 29, 2017. Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Air Force stationed in San Antonio from 1953 to 1957. Eugene was a very proud and dedicated member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was presented the Lumen Gentium Award in 2010 from the Diocese of Austin and did many repairs and odd jobs for Father Ed at the church. He was also a member of American Legion Post #478, Knights of Columbus Council #2305, KJT Society #31, and the Veterans Honor Guard, all in West. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone in the installation department for over 30 years before retiring in 1987. Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Eugene is also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Edward, Lee, Melvin, and Charlie Hosek; and sisters, Lillie Magel, Bessie Green, and Adella Krebs.

Survivors include his daughter, Denise Cadell and her fiancée William Johnston of Austin; his grandchildren, Lauren Cadell and Ryan Cadell; a sister, Mary Rose Pell; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Ryan Cadell, Joseph Nors, Jeffrey Nors, Dr. Michael Holub, Bill Holub, David Holub and Timothy Soukup.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund or West Rest Haven Activity Fund.
