Ervin Kaddatz, age 95, of West, passed away late Friday, October 17, 2014 at Baylor Hospital in Plano. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Alvin Kaddatz, Jr. officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Ervin was born February 7, 1919 in Hill County, near Malone, the son of Charlie and Annie (Radke) Kaddatz. He attended school in Malone and graduated from Malone High School in 1937, prior to attending Hill College. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater with the Medical Corp. On October 15, 1940 he was united in marriage to Mary Norris in Malone. Ervin was a carpenter and farmer until his retirement in 1981. He helped to build the Whitney Dam. Ervin was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Malone and then the First Lutheran Church in Waco. He enjoyed country and western music, woodworking, collecting hub caps, going to flea markets, trading cars and working at West Fraternal Auditorium. Ervin is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carla Urbanovsky; brothers, Alvin A. Kaddatz and Weldon Kaddatz; and sisters, Lillian Hodde and Ruby Lentz. Survivors include his beloved wife of 74 years, Mary E. Kaddatz of West; daughters, Rebecca Kolar and husband David of West and Cathy Ewing of Richmond; a son, Charles Kaddatz and wife Tori of Frisco; a son-in-law, Gary Urbanovsky of Elm Mott; 8 grandchildren, Nicole Hall and husband Darrin, Julie Kirkpatrick and husband Tommy, Jody Urbanovsky, Linsay Tomlinson and husband Norman, Ryan Kolar and wife Courtney, Aaron Kolar, Makenzi Ewing and Adam Ewing; 5 great grandsons, Cory, Austin, Jace, Gage and Koby; sisters-in-law, Nancy Kaddatz and Frances Kaddatz; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Jody Urbanovsky, Ryan Kolar, Aaron Kolar, Adam Ewing, Cory Hall and Austin Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Urbanovsky, Ed Hodde, Dean Hodde, Jack Anthony, Arthur Smith and Abel Rovira. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choice.
