Ernestine "Tena" Parker, age 79, of West, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, October 7, 2008 in Waco. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Waco Memorial Park, with the Rev. Timothy Tanner officiating. Mrs. Parker was born on November 17, 1928 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Ernest and Vina Mae (Ferguson) Hibbs. She graduated from Ft. Smith, Arkansas High School. On September 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert Franklin Parker in Collinsville, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1993. She worked as a seamstress for Spenco Medical in Waco for several years until her retirement in 1987. Ernestine loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed mowing, yardwork and was known to be a great handy woman. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro and the Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include two sons, Robert Parker and wife Charlotte of Hillsboro and Terry Parker and wife Tricia of West; two daughters, June Meador and husband Ronnie of West and Judy Laubert and husband Joe of Blum; two sisters, Maxine Williamson and husband Bill of Carson City, Nevada and Dorothy Kay Tanner of Post; seven grandchildren, John Parker, Amanda Rounsavall, Rebecca Parker, Robert Parker, Emily Parker, Ron Meador and Tena Marie Wright; and five great-grandchildren, Amber Jean, Jacob, Tabitha, Chase and Andrew; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Kaleb Tanner, Jacob Tanner, Kenneth Sims, Josh White and Rick Tanner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
