Ernest W. Nors, age 81, of West, passed away late Monday evening, October 3, 2016 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Paul Hudson and Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrants, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Ernest was born September 29, 1935 in Aquilla, the son of Henry and Antonia (Hejl) Nors. He attended the old Alligator School near West and graduated from Aquilla High School in 1953. On May 27, 1961, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Mach in Tours. Ernest worked for General Dynamics in Arlington, was a co-owner of JoAnn's Bridal Shop in West for many years and was a master carpenter. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where he served as an usher. Ernest was also a member of SPJST Lodge #54 and KJT Society #31. Ernest enjoyed deer hunting and listening to polka music. He especially loved spending time with his family. Ernest is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe Nors, Henry Nors Jr., and Emil Nors; and sisters, Josephine Nors, Mary Soukup and Rose Kolar. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, JoAnn Nors of West; daughters, Deborah Sulak and husband Richard of West and Mary Eastland and fianc Lawrence Frazier of Waco; a brother, Bill Nors and wife Tillie; sisters, Henrietta Chudej, Marcella Kaska, Evelyn Pratka and husband Dan and Lillian Kissinger and husband Harold; a sister-in-law, Donna Nors; granddaughters, Allison Sulak, Ashley Sulak and Kendall Eastland; great grandchildren, Cassidy Westbrook and Cason Sulak; family friend, Zdenek Hurtick; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Steve Nors, Andrew Jackson, T. C. Nors, Gary Nors, Jerry Chudej, Jeff Mach, Jeff Nors and Joey Nors. Honorary pallbearers are the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Ushers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
