Elton "Shorty" Stuckly, Sr., age 80, of Penelope, passed away early Friday morning, April 20, 2007 at his residence. Rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Janice Kaluza, followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Penelope, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near Penelope, conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. Mr. Stuckly was born on September 16, 1926 in Elk, the son of Edward Stuckly and Mary (Krupa) Stuckly. He attended New Hope School, located between Penelope and Hubbard. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. Shorty worked in the agriculture business as a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting deer and wild hogs. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of West V.F.W. Post #4819 and the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Penelope. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jesse Stuckly. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Evelyn Stuckly of Penelope; one son, Elton Stuckly Jr. and wife Peggy of Ross; two daughters, Darlene Herring and husband Eddy of Waco and Charlotte Hromadka and husband James of Mt. Calm; mother-in-law, Mary Mikuda of West; four brothers, Woodrow Stuckly of Hubbard, Edwin "Windy" Stuckly of Axtell, Billy Stuckly and wife Margaret of Grand Prairie, and Jimmy Stuckly and wife Evelyn of West; two sisters, Dorothy Firasek of Penelope and Thelma Trojan of Irving; eight grandchildren, Cory Herring, Delton Stuckly and wife Patti, Angela Herring, Jimbo Hromadka and wife Megan, Elaine Richard and husband Jeremy, Amy Hromadka and Heath Keel, Michael Sheard, Chip Sheard and wife Rene'; nine great-grandchildren, Edward, Aidan, Emily, Terra, Anthony "Bubba", Alayna, Madison, McKenzie, and Madyson; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Cory Herring, Delton Stuckly, Jimbo Hromadka, Chip Sheard, Heath Keel, Jeremy Richard, Jeffrey Stuckly, and Michael Sheard. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Community Hospice or Church of the Nativity, B.V.M. Building Fund. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Charles "Papa" Shoultz for 33 years of care; to his guardian angel on earth, Katherine Maler; and his caregiver, Linda Halamik.
