Ella Macik, age 88, of West, passed away early Friday morning, August 26, 2011 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited and Memorial Mass of Resurrection celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Macik was born on October 31, 1922 in West, the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Bazant) Klish. She attended schools in West. On October 14, 1940, Ella was united in marriage to Albin L. Macik in West. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1999. She was a homemaker. Ella was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the West Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, West V.F.W. Post #4819 Ladies Auxiliary, McLennan/Hill County Czech Heritage Society, Garden Club, K.J.Z.T. Society #11, and Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading. Ella was a very social person, having volunteered at many community events and always enjoyed helping those in need. She was also a volunteer at West Rest Haven and Caritas. Ella is also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Danny Ray Machac Jr.; a brother, Raymond Klish; and two sisters, Rose Krizan and Leona Pavelka. Survivors include three daughters, Doris Tobola and husband Toby, and Jo Rizo and husband Rudy, all of West, and Patsy Berry and husband Bill of Waco; a son, James E. Macik and wife Felicia of Clifton; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to West Ministerial Alliance.
