Elizabeth Winfrey, age 74, of Aquilla, passed away Wednesday morning, June 29, 2022 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.
Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating. Burial will follow at Scott's Chapel Cemetery near Aquilla. The family will receive visitors Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Elizabeth was born July 5, 1947 in Waco, the daughter of Raymond and Leona (Gerik) Hanzelka. She was a 1965 graduate of Grand Prairie High School prior to receiving a degree in nursing from Texas Women's University in Denton in 1977. She received her registered nursing certification in 1978. On January 2, 1990 she was united in marriage to Ronald "Judge" Winfrey in The Colony. Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West and was a former president of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post #4819 Auxiliary. She was a long time home health nurse before retiring due to medical reasons. Elizabeth enjoyed shopping, traveling, helping others, and visiting with family and friends. She was most proud of being "Nana" to her grandchildren.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David and Joe Hanzelka; and a sister-in-law, Gayle Rose.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 32 years, Ronald Winfrey of Aquilla; her children, Doyle Horrocks of Garland, Daryl Horrocks of Aquilla, and Kim and Ken Long of Burleson; step children, Kristi Winfrey of Clarendon and Ronald Jr. and Ricki Winfrey of Buena Vista, NM; two grandsons, Kenny Long and Jack Long; step granddaughter, Max Winfrey; her sisters, Sylvia and Larry Gantt and Caroline and Hal Foster; brother, Christopher Hanzelka; sister-in-law, Kay Hanzelka; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Ron Winfrey Jr, Kenny Long, Jack Long, Ken Long, Doyle Horrocks, and Daryl Horrocks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
