Elizabeth Kunkel

Elizabeth Kunkel, age 83, of Elm Mott, passed away late Monday evening June 29, 2015 in College Station. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to service time at the funeral home. Elizabeth was born November 27, 1931 in Massey, the daughter of Charlie and Jessie (Machac) Flaherty. She was a graduate of Bynum High School. On December 30, 1950, she was united in marriage to Roy Kunkel. Roy preceded her in death on August 4, 2000. Elizabeth was a homemaker and worked for Elm Mott Elementary School. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bellmead. Elizabeth was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Elm Mott and the Elm Mott Riding Club. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing and trail rides. She especially loved spending time with family and friends. Elizabeth is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alphonse Flaherty; two sisters, Angeline Flaherty and Catherine Bajer; and four sisters-in law, Cara Flaherty, Helen Dulock, Dorothy Banik and Ruby Pavelka. Survivors include three sons, Ronald Kunkel of Chilton, Kenneth Kunkel and wife Julie of West and Billy R. Kunkel and wife Marie of Leroy; a daughter, Diane McCleary and husband Mike of College Station; a brother, Charlie "Sonny" Flaherty Jr.; a sister, Willie Mae Uptmor; a sister-in-law, Grace Lander; her grandchildren, Kyle McCleary and wife Tina, Brian McCleary and wife Trish, Kevin McCleary and wife Audrey, Jason Kunkel and wife Tricia, Karl Kunkel and wife Sara, Kurt Kunkel, Kody Kunkel and wife Jill, Kory Kunkel, Kyle Bailey and Christopher Kunkel; many great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Kyle McCleary, Brian McCleary, Kevin McCleary, Karl Kunkel, Kurt Kunkel, Jason Kunkel, Kyle Bailey, Christopher Kunkel, Kory Kunkel and Kody Kunkel In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th Street, Bryan, TX 77803.
