Elizabeth "Libby" M. Hale, age 88, of West, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 21, 2021 at Providence Hospital in Waco. Emma Elizabeth Majors was born on June 15, 1933 in Athens, the daughter of Julius Everett and Hattie Lillian (Hoke) Majors. Her parents preceded her in death, as well as her sisters Josephine Douglass, Billie Sue Garner, and Hattie Maudine Kasch. Elizabeth graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan in 1950. On August 29, 1953, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Ira D. Hale, Jr. in Bryan. She then became a United States Air Force wife for 20 years, while also being a housewife and raising three children. Elizabeth and her husband, Ira, would have been married 67 years on August 29 of this year. Elizabeth mastered a few hobbies over the years, including sewing, cooking, knitting, painting, and especially needlepoint. She also learned some sign language in order to communicate with her daughter, Kathryn, who was born Deaf. She will be deeply missed by her family. Survivors include her beloved husband of 66 years, Ira D. Hale, Jr. of West; sons, Ira David Hale and wife Laura of Boulder, CO and Walter Alan Hale of DeSoto; daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Hale of West; granddaughter, Lauren Michelle Poe and husband Sean; grandson, Kevin Francis Hale; great-grandson, Tristan Lucas Poe; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. There will be no funeral service, but a simple graveside service for family and friends at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 10:15 a.m.
