Edwin B. Nors, age 64, of West, passed away late Monday afternoon, November 17, 2008 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Nors was born January 21, 1944 in West, the son of John and Emily (Gerich) Nors. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School in 1962. On October 24, 1964, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Willenborg in Tours. Edwin worked for West Lumber Company for over 40 years. He also worked for Community Grocery, Tiger Stop, and Lochridge Priest. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Edwin was a member and served as a former president of the West Ag Booster Club, West Kiwanis Club, St. Mary's School Quarterback Club, Bold Springs Water Supply, and the West Fraternal Auditorium Board. He was also a former trustee for the West I.S.D and member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 54, West Volunteer Ambulance Association, and the West Fair & Rodeo Association. He was also a member of the West Chamber of Commerce, where he was honored as Citizen of The Year in 2004 and served as a director and associate director for Westfest for nearly 30 years. Edwin enjoyed auctioneering, driving his gator, fishing, farming, tending his cattle, and he especially loved spending time with his family. He was known to all as a model citizen who has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life in his hometown, and his remarkable contributions will continue to positively affect the residents of West for years to come. Survivors include his loving wife, Yvonne Nors of West; four sons, Randy Nors and wife Angie, Bradley Nors and wife Jeannie, Greg Nors, and Douglas Nors and wife Shannon, all of West; three daughters, Cynthia M. Nors of West; Lanette Sullins and husband Lance of Abbott, and Jessica Nors and fianc Mark Clifton of Chilton; two brothers, Robert J. Nors and wife Georgie and Thomas J. Nors and wife Teresa, all of West; one sister, Jeanette M. Urbanovsky and husband Frank of Aquilla; nine grandchildren, Kasie and her friend James, Taylor, Morgan, Mason, Clay, Clint, Randall, Ty, and Tyler; one great-grandson, Layne; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Active Pallbearers will be Taylor Nors, Randall Davis, John Holecek, Andrew Urbanovsky, Nick Nors, Jeff Nors, Bobby Nors, and Kurt Vrbas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edwin's Grandchildren and Great-Grandson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Fraternal Auditorium or to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.
