Edward "Ed" Matus, age 78, of Elm Mott, passed away late Friday evening, March 15, 2024 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at St. Mary's Cemetery near West, with Deacon Robin Waters officiating.
Ed was born June 26, 1945 in Tours, the son of Edward and Wilma (Grellhesl) Matus. He was a 1963 graduate of West High School and also attended Electrician Apprenticeship SchooI through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers . On July 8, 1967 he was united in marriage to Barbara Kramolis in West. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #72 and KJT Society #60 in Tours. He owned and operated Matus Electric Company in Elm Mott for 55 years. Ed enjoyed working outdoors, mowing, gardening, and working on antique cars. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Frances Matus.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Barbara Matus of Elm Mott; a son, Randy Matus of Hallsburg; a sister, Katherine Foitek and husband Bill; two brothers, Larry Matus and wife Sandy, and David Matus and wife Donna; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery Association, St. Martin's Cemetery Association, or the Humane Society of Central Texas.
