Edward Louis Mashek, Jr., age 73, of West, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 23, 2015 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with visitation until 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Edward was born September 27, 1942 in West, the son of the late Mary Ann (Grimm) and Edward Louis Mashek Sr. He was a graduate of St. Mary's School in West and graduated from West High School in 1962 before attending Hill Jr. College in Hillsboro. Edward was a real estate broker and owned Preferred Properties Real Estate for over 38 years until his retirement in 2011. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Burleson. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Burleson, Ducks Unlimited and the Texas Realtors Association. Edward enjoyed fishing, boating, being a private pilot, making property investments, and was an avid duck hunter. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Mashek Claridy and her husband, Donathan of West; two sons, Trey Mashek of West and Nick Mashek of Ft. Worth; his best friend, Steve Jones; a loving companion, Ann Parey; two sisters, Kay Popp and husband Dan and Pat Lassetter and husband Larry; grandchildren, Richard Keel Jr. and wife Liz, Kristin Overstreet and husband Nic, HaLee Reed, Tyler Anderson and Jacob Claridy; seven great-grandchildren; his special hunting dogs, Barr and Charlie; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Larry Lassetter Jr., Tyler Anderson, Steve Jones, Richard Keel Jr., Joe Mashek and Sammy Mashek. Honorary pallbearers are Todd Parey and Jordan Parey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Marys School Endowment Fund or to West EMS.
