Douglas G. Bailey

Douglas G. "Doug" Bailey, age 85, of Richards, formerly of West, passed away early Monday morning, March 17, 2008 at St. Joesph's Regional Health Center in Bryan. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Bold Springs Cemetery near West, with Rev. Lupe Ybarra officiating. Masonic Rites and Military Rites will follow. The family will receive visitors from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Mr. Bailey was born April 27, 1922 in West, the son of Dayton and Bessie (Busby) Bailey. He attended schools in West and graduated from West High School. He served his country with the United States Army during World War II. On April 21, 1946 he was united in marriage to Jeanette Wilson. She preceded him in death on December 7, 1983. Doug was a counselor for the Department of Veterans Affairs for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Brenham. He was also a member of the Graham Masonic Lodge #20. He is also preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Billy Bailey, Jack Bailey, Everett Bailey, and Tommy Bailey. Survivors include his second wife, Lillie Bailey of Brenham; two daughters, Tammy Lange and husband David of Anderson and Martha Gillespie and husband Bruce of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
