Dorothy Roberts

Dorothy Jenkins Roberts, age 93, of West, passed away late Saturday evening, July 1, 2017 at West Rest Haven. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Dorothy was born September 11, 1923 in Sumter, South Carolina the daughter of James and Louise (Troublefield) Windham. She attended schools in Sumter and was a 1939 graduate of Sumter High School. Dorothy was united in marriage to Bradley W. Jenkins Jr. on June 10, 1941 in Sumter. Bradley preceded her in death on March 26, 1964. Dorothy was then united in marriage to Charles "Chuck" Roberts on September 17, 1966 in Ash Fork, Arizona. Chuck also preceded her in death on June 13, 2011. Dorothy worked for the Prescott Courier in Prescott, AZ where she had many duties including women's editor and reporter. She was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church in Prescott. Dorothy loved reading and being a mother to not only her children and step children, but to all her extended family. Dorothy is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Jenkins; and brothers, James, Paul, Bobby, Mack and Alfred Windham. Survivors include her children, Brad Jenkins Jr. of Prescott Valley, AZ, David Jenkins and wife Cindy of Flagstaff, AZ, Emily Jenkins of Phoenix, AZ, and Evelyn Rankin and husband Steve of West; a daughter-in-law, Calette Ihrman and husband Ted; step children, Gary Roberts and wife Jane, Glen Roberts and wife Susan and Joan Cole and husband Gary; a brother, Julius Windham; sisters, Betty LeGrand and Leah Talton; 24 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
