Dorothy Marie Kwast

Dorothy Marie (Kinney) Kwast, age 87, of West, formerly of San Antonio, passed away early Friday morning, October 21, 2016 at West Rest Haven in West, Texas. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Mission Park South Chapel in San Antonio, with Rusty Kwast officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Burial Park South. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, and also beginning 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mission Parks South Funeral Home in San Antonio. Dorothy was born February 8, 1929 on a farm outside of Skidmore, to John William Kinney and Pauline Elizabeth Streidel. She attended school in the San Antonio area until she joined the workforce to help support the household. It was in her job that she met her life partner, Reno Arthur Kwast, while he was in the Navy during World War II. Reno and Dorothy married on December 6, 1945 in San Antonio and she cared for the home they created in San Antonio until Reno retired in 1995. They were married for 69 years. Dorothy loved cooking, sewing and writing notes of encouragement to others. She was a very caring and loving person to all, but especially the young and aged as well as those in need who crossed her path. She always put others needs before her own as she took care of her mother, her husband and five sons, grandchildren, and non-family members throughout her life. Dorothy was a faithful Christian and long time member of the Churches of Christ. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Anthony Kwast; two brothers, Fritz Sens and John Kinney II; one sister, Frieda Goolsby; and one great-grandson, Wylie Carter. Survivors include four sons, Arthur Kwast and wife Lillian of Frisco, Andrew "Rusty" Kwast and wife Donna of Abbott, Alan Kwast and wife Dawn of San Antonio and Aaron Kwast and wife Karen of Grand Prairie; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Kwast of Lake Dallas; one sister Jeanette Wells; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and an extended family of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
