Dorothy Mae Vaughan

Dorothy "Dottie" Mae (Jones) Vaughan, age 75, of Eddy, formerly of West, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, September 14, 2010 at the Courtyard in Hewitt. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Vaughan was born June 18, 1935 in Waco, the daughter of William Jefferson and Pearly Mae (Toles) Jones. She attended schools in the Waco area. On April 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Horace Donald Vaughan in Waco. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1996. She worked as a cook for the Deli at Sears in Waco and for several other area restaurants. Dorothy enjoyed watching television, reading her Bible and listening to gospel music. She especially loved spending time with her family. Dorothy was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of West where she taught Sunday School and cooked for many of the church activities. Her parents; a son-in-law, David Cheshier; five brothers, John Jones, Bill Jones, Clyde Jones, Jimmy Jones, and R.A. Jones; and four sisters, Mary Cummins, Lily West, Sybil Bridger, and Frances Hodges; also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Cheshier of Eddy; two sons, Donald Vaughan of Glenn Heights and Robert Vaughan of Waco; two brothers, Robert Jones of Eddy and Carl Jones of Waco; two sisters, Alice Germo of San Antonio and Jean Felfe of Spicewood; 7 grandchildren, Eric Cheshier, Connie Purpura, Stephanie Krol, Amy Willbanks, Stephanie Gray, Jenny Davis and John Davis; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
