Dorothy Mae Berger, age 94, of Tours, passed away early Monday morning, October 17, 2022 at West Rest Haven in West.
A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Walter Dhanwar as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery.
Dorothy was born December 12, 1927 near Tours, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Schroeder) Uptmor. She attended schools in Tours and West. On July 29, 1945 she was united in marriage to Wilfred "Bill" Berger in Tours. Bill preceded her in death on June 27, 1994. Dorothy was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Martin's Catholic Church. She was also a member of St. Elizabeth Altar Society, where she was recognized as being a longtime member. She was a cabinet maker and foreman for Fleetwood Mobile Homes in Waco for 20 years. Following her retirement, she worked in the cafeteria for West Middle School for 15 years. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, baking, listening to polka music, traveling, playing bingo, doing carpentry work, taking scenic drives in the country, raising chickens, antiquing, going to garage sales, and taking trips to the casinos in Oklahoma. She will truly be remembered for her dancing and leading marches for weddings of family and friends. She loved spending time with her family and enjoying Sunday lunches together, always including her ring bologna.
Dorothy is also preceded in death by parents; a daughter-in-law, Diana Berger; a granddaughter, Shelly Diane Berger; a sister, Bernice Pustejovsky; and her brothers, Fritz Uptmor and Henry Uptmor Jr.
Survivors include her children, Gary Berger of Tours, Denise Reid and husband John Beckham of Austin, and Stephen Berger of West; her sisters, Henrietta "Sugie" Dulock and Shirley Geisler; her grandchildren, Michael Berger, Dylan Berger, Danielle Crespo, Cameron Reid, Camille Reid, and Kenzie Blount; a great grandson, Truston Berger; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Cameron Reid, Dylan Berger, Michael Berger, Ronnie Pustejovsky, Truston Berger, and Jimmy Dulock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours or St. Martin's Cemetery Association.
