Dorothy Gerlich

September 16, 1933 — April 23, 2024

Dorothy Ann (Pechacek) Gerlich, aka Grandma Dot, age 90, of Arlington, passed away late Tuesday evening, April 23, 2024 at Medical City Hospital in Arlington.


A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elk, with Rev. Harry Dean as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Elk.


Dorothy was born September 16, 1933 in Elk, the daughter of Ben and Angela (Vicha) Pechacek. She was a 1952 graduate of Axtell High School. On January 20, 1953 she was united in marriage to Eugene Gerlich in Elk. Eugene preceded her in death on November 3, 2013. Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arlington and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellmead and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk. She was also a member of SPJST Lodge #183 in Arlington. She worked for Word, Inc. for 24 years until her retirement. Dorothy enjoyed dancing, especially waltzing with her husband, sewing, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers. She loved spending time with her family especially at holiday get together's where she would cook for everyone.


Dorothy is also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Culliton; brothers, Harry "Fuzzy" Pechacek and Daniel Pechacek; sisters-in-law, Paulette Pechacek, Frances Gerlich, and Albina Macha; and brother-in-law, Vernon Gerlich.


Survivors include her daughter, Katherine "Kay" Weeks and husband Tom and a  son-in-law, Tim Culliton, all of Arlington; grandchildren, Natalie Doland and husband Tony, Nicholas Culliton, Kimberly Williams and husband Paul, Katie Weeks and fiance Jonathan Hamilton, Gena Pogue and husband Bryce, and Tommy Weeks; great grandchildren, Jude, Lilly, Elizabeth, Paul, Sarah and John Doland, Olan, Harvey, Joanna, and Porter Williams; a sister, Mildred Steinke and husband Lloyd; sisters-in-law, Liz Pechacek and Carrie Pechacek; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Pallbearers are Jeffrey Pechacek, Tim Pechacek, Ronald Steinke, Bryce Pogue, Jonathan Hamilton, and Paul Williams.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arlington, The Ladies Group at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk, or the charity of your choice.
