Dorothy E. Moore

Dorothy E. Moore, age 90, of Lorena, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, July 16, 2017 at her residence with her family by her side. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Darrell Kostiha as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Dorothy was born December 29, 1926 in West, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Retchek) Kapavik. She attended St. Mary's School and West High School. On June 11, 1946 she was united in marriage to Ray E. Moore in West. Ray preceded her in death on July 31, 1982. Dorothy enjoyed working in the cafeteria for St. Mary's School and Lake Air Junior High, both in Waco for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. She was also a member of the SPJST Lodge #66 and RVOS Lodge #109 for over 58 years. Dorothy enjoyed baking kolaches and will always be known as our Kolache Queen. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, as you could tell from her constant sweet smile. Dorothy is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Sue Moore; and a brother, Willie Kapavik. Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia Oswald and husband Donald of Waco and Kathy Rossi and husband Wayne of Dripping Springs; grandchildren, Christie Butler and husband Duane, Jared Rossi and wife Kristen, Andrew Oswald and Justin Rossi and wife Natalie; great grandchildren, Dalton, Delanie, Preston, Reese and twins on the way; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Jared Rossi, Andrew Oswald, Justin Rossi, Dalton Butler, Mark Peabody and Johnnie Gaidusek Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Johnnie Graves and past and present officers and committee members of the RVOS Lodge #109. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals On Wheels of Lorena.
