Dorothy (Tobola) Grmela, age 78, of Elm Mott, passed away late Saturday evening, May 2, 2020 at Providence Health Center in Waco. Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2020 at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating. Dorothy will lie-in-state from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Dorothy was born October 8, 1941 in Penelope, the daughter of Eddie and Frances (Gorubec) Tobola. She was a 1958 graduate of Penelope High School. On September 10, 1960 she was united in marriage to Rudy Grmela in Penelope. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 30 years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and helped at the Waco Family Abuse Center. Dorothy enjoyed arts & crafts, making floral arrangements for people, doing home interior designing, working with her flowers, and tending to her bird baths. Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Ed Tobola; and an infant sister, JoAnn Tobola. Survivors include her beloved husband of 59 years, Rudy Grmela of Elm Mott; her son, Edward Grmela and wife Lisa of Waco; a sister, Gerri Michalek Weber and husband Steve; a sister-in-law, Mary Tobola; her grandchildren, Eddie Grmela Jr. and wife Haley, Alisha Grmela and her fiancé Ricky Johnson, and Emily Rawls and husband Garett; great grandchildren, Brayden, Tanner and Madison; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waco Family Abuse Center or the charity of your choice.
