Dorothy Adair Gunter

Dorothy (Burkhead) Adair Gunter, age 80, of Palestine passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, surrounded by the love of her family and children. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, Texas, with Pastors Rusty Kwast and Jimmy Sansom officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather after the funeral at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson, for fellowship and food. Dorothy was born January 31, 1935 in Talco, Texas, the daughter of Charlie and Ella Mae Burkhead. She retired after a lifetime of working for retail services. She loved spending her time with her children and family and put them first, at all times. Dorothy enjoyed her roses and her gardens, and her excursions out on weekends with her family. She was a Christian. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Carol Burkhead and Lois Ingram; brother-in-law, Melvin Ingram; great grandsons, Korbyn Gonzales and Sean DeLeon; and daughter-in-law, Molly Adair. Survivors include a son, Rickey Adair of Gholson; three daughters, Carla Atkins of Palestine, Malynda Carroll and her husband Bill of Lindale and Brenda Adair of Palestine; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter. Pallbearers are Bill Carroll, Tim Adair, John Carroll, Will Brumley, Rick Wilson and Daniel DeLeon, III. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel DeLeon, Jr. and Steve Gonzales.
