Doris Mae Oden, age 75, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, June 11, 2005 at a Waco nursing home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of West with Rev. John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Doris was born April 1, 1930 to Dewey and Wilhelmina Paul. She attended schools in Tokio and West and was united in marriage to George E. Oden on August 16, 1946 in West. Doris worked for Lorch manufacturing company in West before becoming the central supply technician at West Community Hospital, a position she held for over 10 years until retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church in West. Her parents; two sisters, Carolyn Paul and Pauline McClain; and one brother, Yeul Dean Robinson; all preceded her in death. Survivors include her beloved husband of 58 years, George Oden of West; three sons, Ernest Oden of Waco, David Oden of West, and Randy Oden and his wife Cindy of Hewitt; one sister, Sue Morgan of Chilton; two brothers, Dewey Paul of Clyde and Joe Paul and his wife Margot of West; a sister-in-law, Shirley Robinson; a brother-in-law, Leslie McClain; eight grandchildren, Lindsey, Jessica, Sara, Chad, Taylor, Ben, and Amanda Oden, and Josh Jones; two great-grandchildren, Brice and Christian Britt; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice.
