Doris Hlavaty, age 82, of Navasota, formerly of West, passed away early Sunday morning, March 2, 2008 at a Navasota nursing home. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bold Springs Cemetery near West, with Pastor Ronnie Holmes officiating. Doris was born February 27, 1926 in Laurel, Mississippi, the daughter of Walter and Dollie (Windham) Mixon. She attended schools in Laurel and Ellisville, Mississippi before entering Jones County Agriculture High School. On June 30, 1972 she was united in marriage to Andrew G. Hlavaty in Waco. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1983. Doris was a homemaker before working as a checker at the West Food Mart for five years. She also took a nurses aide course and home sat with several local families. Doris was a member of the Church of the Open Door, where she volunteered in the food pantry ministry. She enjoyed cross-stitching, needle point, walking, and especially taking care of her family. Her parents; a brother, Earl; and three sisters, Hazel, Evelyn, and Ann; also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Frank Ingram and wife Dorothy of Wilmington, North Carolina and Johnny Ingram of Waco; three daughters, Fran Ward and husband Dalton of Montgomery, and Diana Grant and husband Leslie and Kay Turner and husband Bill, all of Bellmead; three sisters, Jewell Bryan and husband Tommy, Merle Mixon, and Joyce Taylor all of Laurel, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Donna Pridgen and husband Ivy, Tami Waters, Bradley Grant, Kenny Grant, Shawn Turner, and Shane Turner; ten great grandchildren, Ashley, Kelsey, Tiffany, Nathan, Mariah, Aidan, Kara, Austin, Brandon, and Dillion; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Open Door.
