Donald Ray Marek

Donald Ray "Doc" Marek, age 50, of Elm Mott, passed away Saturday evening, April 8, 2006 in Dallas from injuries sustained in a house fire. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at West Brethren Cemetery near West, with Rev. Jennifer Wagley officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Donald was born on August 27, 1955 in Waco, the son of Frankie Marek and Hana (Zivec) Marek. He attended West schools and worked as a self employed mechanic and Packless Metal Hose Industry for several years. Donald enjoyed repairing junk, riding his Harley, and taking his grandchildren for tractor rides. He was a member of SPJST Lodge #54 and First United Church of West. An infant brother, Jeffrey Michael Marek, precedes him in death. Survivors include his father, Frankie Marek and his wife Callie and his mother, Hana Jackson and her husband Larry, all of West; two sons, Joey Marek and his wife Amanda of Mexia and Jeffrey Marek of California; two daughters, Amanda Tekubie and her husband Jeremiah of San Angelo and Victoria Webb of Whitney; three brothers, Robert "Bert" Marek of Lewisville, Michael Marek and Garry Marek, all of West; two sisters, Lisa Armstrong and her husband Phillip of Savannah Georgia and Nadine Johnson and her husband Randy of Eddy; six grandchildren, Brayden, Spencer, Lance, Kailani, Lexi, and Summer; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to help with funeral expenses.
