Dolores Jean Cervenka, age 89, of Houston, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Kindred Medical Center in Houston.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the church.
Dolores was born January 12, 1934 in West, Texas, the daughter of Leon and Minnie (Jerabek) Cervenka. She attended St. Mary's School, West Elementary School and was a 1951 graduate of Abbott High School, where she was the class salutatorian. Dolores then went on the attend the University of Texas in Austin receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She started her banking career at the National City Bank in Waco and later worked at Republic National Bank and Preston State Bank, both in Dallas. After moving to Houston, a city she greatly loved, she became an accountant for First City Bank for the next 25 years before retiring. Dolores was a member of St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church in Houston. She enjoyed traveling and taking trips on the Amtrak trains through much of the United States, especially the west coast. Her favorite cities to visit were San Francisco, LasVegas, and Montréal, Canada.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bernard Cervenka; and a sister, Georgia Cervenka.
Survivors include many beloved relatives and friends, including Sarai Davila, Virginia Stakes, and Melinda Galvan, all of Houston.
