Dolores Ann Gerik

Dolores Ann Gerik, age 82, of Waco, passed away early Monday morning, April 14, 2014 at Park Bend Health Center in Austin. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Dolores was born January 9, 1932 in West, the daughter of Frank and Rose (Milberger) Karlik. She attended St. Mary's School and was a 1950 graduate of West High School. On November 8, 1950 she was united in marriage to Edwin E. Gerik in West. Edwin preceded her in death on September 9, 2004. Dolores was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. She was also a member of the K.J.Z.T. St. Ludmilla Society #11. Dolores enjoyed arranging flowers, watching the redbirds, watching HGTV and her soap operas. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dolores is also preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Phyllis Gerik. Survivors include granddaughters, Melanie Fordyce and husband Jerry of Houston and Leslie Nelson and husband Mark of Austin; great grandchildren, Emma Leslie and James Edwin "Jed" Fordyce; a twin sister, Rosalie Barak and husband Gerald; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Gerald Barak Jr., Eddie Hykel, James Gerik, Robert Reesing, Lynn Haney and John Miller. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
