Richard "Dick" Bryant Lowe, age 72, of Burleson, passed away Monday, April 20, 2020 at home after a courageous three year battle with lung and liver cancer. A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with James K. Walker officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Dick was born December 16, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of Bryant and Marilee (Renfro) Lowe. His family moved frequently so he attended several high schools. He was selected for National Honor Society at Riverview Gardens High School, as well as Anaheim High School. He later went on to graduate from Tustin High School in 1966 where he made the Dean's List and the California Scholarship Foundation. He attended California State University at Fullerton graduating in 1970 with a B.A. degree in Biological Science. He was on the Dean's List and PreMed. After college, Dick began working as a Park Ranger with the Corps of Engineers at Lake Texarkana in 1971. From there he went on to work at Benbrook Lake as a Park Ranger in 1974 and the Fort Worth District Office as a Project Manager in the Permits Division in 1984. He later retired from Fort Worth District Office in July of 2010. He was a lifelong environmentalist. On September 10, 1983 he was united in marriage to Angela Janecka in Burleson. Dick's many interests include Herpetology, Philosophy, and Physical Anthropology. He also enjoyed family camping trips, listening to classical music, computers and the many friendships he made. He enjoyed volunteering at the Fort Worth Zoo as a docent, and at the Burleson Animal Shelter. Dick had many pets himself including dogs, Bert, Tripper and Doobie; a cat Jax; a crested gecko, Liz; as well as his Mexican Beaded Lizard, Burgess, who he ultimately gave to the Fort Worth Zoo; a Monocled Cobra; a Bamboo Viper; a Bengal Monitor; and a Malaysian Water Monitor. He was also a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician and Ham Radio Operator. Dick is preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Alice Janecka; and aunts, Lela Thompkins and Eleanor Vignale. Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Angela Lowe of Burleson; daughters, Cheryl Marie Serena and husband Matteo and Stephanie Anne Ross and husband Dave; a sister, Marcia Chapman; nephews, Jared Chapman and wife Jenny, Joseph Janecka and Nick Janecka; a niece, Aimee Suzow and husband Eric; his father-in-law, Joseph C. Janecka; brothers-in-law, Joey Janecka and wife Tracy and Carl Janecka; an aunt, Carolyn Strickler; and many other relatives and friends.
