Desta Harvey

Desta Alice "Bunny" Harvey, age 89, of Arlington, formerly of West, passed away early Monday morning, April 15, 2024 at Green Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation in Arlington.

Graveside Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague, with Minister Ernie Albrecht officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.

Desta was born April 8, 1935 in Houston, the daughter of Howard and Eva (Logwood) Watrous. She was a graduate of Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, where she played in the Drum and Bugle Corp and was on the cheer squad. On May 16, 1953 she was united in marriage to Edwin "Hap"Harvey in Houston. Edwin preceded her in death on October 24, 2012. Desta was a faithful member of the West Church of Christ. She was a notary for many years while she worked for Johnson Roofing in Waco from 1984 to 2012. Desta enjoyed sewing, making quilts, eating chocolate, collecting bunny rabbits, watching mystery movies, and reading mystery books. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Desta loved spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Grand Bunny". She was known as a proud veteran's wife and made the best biscuits and greasy tacos.

Desta is also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, George, Tommy, and Steve Watrous.

Survivors include her children, Craig Harvey and wife Ginger of Arlington, and Donna Dawley of Montgomery; four grandchildren, Collin Harvey and wife Jennifer, Cori Dawley, Bradley Harvey, and Mark Harvey; her great granddaughters, Allison and Emily Harvey; her cousins, Goggy, Thela, Naomi, and Betty; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Church of Christ.
