Della Bartosh

Della (Detterman) Bartosh, age 94, of Plainfield, Indiana, formerly West and Mesquite, Texas, passed away late Thursday morning, November 28, 2024 at her son's residence in Plainfield.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West.

Della was born March 22, 1930 in West, Texas the daughter of Martin and Mary (Miller) Detterman. She attended St. Mary's School and West High School. On June 30, 1948, Della married Jerry Bartosh, in West, Texas. Together, they built a home filled with joy and family. Jerry preceded her in death on July 21, 1978, leaving behind memories that Della cherished. A devoted member of the Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville, Indiana, Della’s faith was central to her life. She worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Dallas for over 12 years before retiring in 1994, but it was her role as a homemaker and caretaker that truly defined her. Known for her delicious kolaches, cakes, and pies, she took great pleasure in baking and decorating, always eager to share her creations with family and friends. Della’s greatest joy was in the company of her loved ones. She enjoyed visiting and connecting with family and friends, leaving a legacy of kindness, love, and memories that will be treasured forever.

Della is also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Jerry Michael Bartosh; brothers, Bill, Herbert, Fred, Raymond, Edmund, and Arthur Detterman; and sisters, Josephine Berger, Leona Maler, Mildred Perkins, Estelle Goates, Louise Cox, Frances Schutza, Edith Jares, Carrie Detterman, and Bernice Detterman.

Survivors include her son, Larry Bartosh and wife Paula of Plainfield, IN; her grandsons, Michael Bartosh and Byron Bartosh and wife his Sarah; four great-grandchildren, Anna, Sean, Ava, and Kaytlin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
