David Reed

David Reed, age 64, of West passed away Sunday morning, August 7, 2005 at his residence. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bold Springs Cemetery near West, with Rev. Eric Hammer officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. David was born September 1, 1940 in Hill County, the son of Doss and Addie (McGuire) Reed. He attended West schools and served his country with the U.S. Army. David married Patsy Majors on February 10, 1995 in West. He worked as a welder in the pipeline industry before retiring in 1988. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. His parents; a daughter, Gala Reed; and a sister, Dolores Maler; all preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife Patsy of West; a son, Dwayne Reed and wife Marcie of West; two daughters, Vala Allen of West and Angie Moore of Allen; two step-sons, Kevin Hight and wife Shana of Itasca and Wesley Gatlin and wife Sharon of Leroy; three step-daughters, Lisa Pechacek and husband Chris of West, Sonya Townsend and husband Brent of Rozanky, and Tonya Heath and husband Art of Itasca; two sisters, Debra Britt of Alabama and Peggy Johnson of Irving; nineteen grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Pallbearers are Charles Gillaspie, Merle Gilson, Dennis Porter, Clyde Vrba, Jim Quick, and T.J. Duke. Memorials may be made to West Ambulance Association.
