David Kocian

David George Kocian, age 74, of Gerald, passed away early Sunday morning, October 8, 2023 at West Rest Haven in West.


A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2023 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Walter Dhanwar as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West.


David was born February 2, 1949 in Penelope, the son of George and Josephine (Prikryl) Kocian. He attended Penelope schools. On October 14, 1967 he was united in marriage to Helen Kolenovsky in Hubbard. David was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church where he served as an usher and helped with the annual church picnic. He also served in the United States Army National Guard and was a member of the SPJST Lodge #54 in West. David worked weddings and bingo on Wednesday and Friday night at Geneva Hall. He was a radiator foreman for Bellmead Radiator for 45 years before retiring in 2019. David enjoyed being outdoors, working in his yard, going on cruises, gambling in Louisiana, and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. He loved spending time with his family, especially attending all of his grandchildren's activities.


David is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Bridger Hogan; a brother, Danny Kocian; a sister, Diane Jupe; and a nephew Jason Snokhous.


Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Helen Kocian of Gerald; his children, Lori Hogan and husband Darrell of Granbury, and Tim Kocian and wife Rachael of Gerald; his grandchildren, Kassidy Montgomery and husband Brian, Ashlan Brock, Kailee Brock and boyfriend Remington, Caidn Kocian and girlfriend Rileigh, Conner Kocian and girlfriend Chloe; his great grandchildren, Judson and Oaklyn;a brother, Ervin Kocian; a sister, Eileen Janek and husband David; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Pallbearers are Caidn Kocian, Conner Kocian, Darrell Kocian, Larry Brem, Tony LeNoir, Jared Janek, Steve Symank, and Freddie Kaluza.


The family would like to give a special thank you to Interim Hospice, especially Shay Rollins, Shirlanda Turner, Cheyenne Turnmire, Nathan Dunman, and Christie Skipper and the staff of West Rest Haven for all the loving care and compassion given to Davy and his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
