David John Matus

David John Matus, age 57, of Bellmead, passed away Thursday morning, October 26, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral Service will be held 10:45 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Rev. Fernando Saenz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

David was born August 4, 1966 in Waco, the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Nors) Matus. He attended schools in Bellmead and was a 1984 graduate of La Vega High School. David was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellmead. After high school, he began his job career with Tymco Inc. in Waco and worked there for the past 39 years. David enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, woodworking, creating things from metal, cooking, attending BBQ's, being outdoors enjoying nature, and taking care of his cat "Puss Puss". He loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

David is preceded in death by his father and an infant sister, Monica Matus.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Matus of Bellmead; his sister, Becky Montelongo and husband Alex of McGregor; his nieces and nephew, Heaven Lopez, Alejandra Montelongo, Angelina Montelongo, Andrea Garcia and her husband Chris, and Anthony Lopez; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Anthony Lopez, Michael Matus, Ricky Monthie, Terry Benner, Kenneth Young, and Gary Young.
