David "Butch" Scott, age 68, of Bryan, formerly of West, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 2015 at Scott & White Hospital in College Station. A rosary will be recited 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with visitation to follow until 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard. Butch was born April 8, 1947 in Waco, the son of Tal and Margaret (Gerik) Scott. He attended St. Mary's School and was a 1965 graduate of West High School. Butch received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Baylor University in 1973. On August 1, 1967, he was united in marriage to Lou Conner in Amarillo. Butch served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked his entire life in auto sales at Scott Chevrolet in West, Bolton Chevrolet in West, John McLaren Chevrolet in McGregor and Derek Scott Auto Park in Hearne. Butch was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan and a former long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus Council #2305 in West. Butch enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved watching Derek Jr. race and spending time with his family. Butch is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jacob Scott; brothers, Larry Scott and Gene Scott; and his father-in-law, Bud Conner. Survivors include the love of his life, Lou Scott of Bryan; sons, Derek Scott and wife Kim of Franklin and Brian Scott and wife Jennifer of Denver, CO; a sister, Debby Marak and husband Harry of West; Mothers-in-law, Faye Conner and Tommie Wright; sisters-in-law, Betty Tomkins and husband Miles, Sandy Russell and husband Dannis, Debbie Hardwick and husband Mark and Cheryl Probst and husband Brian; grandchildren, Deven Scott, Brittany Scott, Caleb Scott, Derek Scott Jr., Lauren Scott and Christian Scott; a great granddaughter, Miranda Scott; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Todd Tompkins, Greg Tompkins, Matt Russell, Jason Hardwick, Chad Marak, Zach Brown, David Pratka, Keith Gerik and Richard Scott. Honorary pallbearers are all co-workers at Derek Scott Auto Park and his deer hunting buddies. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
