Dardanilla M. Gummelt, age 88, of Aquilla, passed away Tuesday evening, November 11, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Dardanilla will lie in state at Aderhold Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 p.m. Sunday. Dardanilla was born December 16, 1925 in Gatesville, the daughter of Byron and Ruby (Wicker) Martin. She was a1943 graduate of Waco High School prior to attending 4-C Business College in Waco. On April 16, 1948 she was united in marriage to Herb L. Gummelt in Waco. Herb preceded her in death on September 26, 1995. Dardanilla was a homemaker. She also worked for Owens Illinois Glass Plant for 20 years and was a cook for Latham Springs Baptist Encampment for several years. Dardanilla was a very faithful member of the First Baptist Church of West. Dardanilla was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Walter Baldwin Chapter #929. She enjoyed reading and was very loved by all who knew her. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Dardanilla was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Travis L. Martin and Troy A. Martin. Survivors include nephews, Russell Martin and wife Teresa, Jeffrey Martin and wife Teresa, Foy Watson and wife Gloria and Richard Watson and wife Debbie; a niece, Cindy Constantine and husband Kim; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund or the Gholson Volunteer Fire Department.
