Danny Urbanovsky, age 85, of West, passed away Wednesday evening, January 18, 2012 at West Rest Haven in West, surrounded by his family and loved ones. A rosary will be recited 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Urbanovsky was born July 6, 1926 in West, the son of Daniel Frank and Lydia Lillian (Maresh) Urbanovsky, Sr. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School in 1944. He served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. On June 19, 1950 he was united in marriage to Lillian Bezdek in West. Danny took over his father's photography business "Urbanovsky Studio" and began his over 65 year career taking photos in and around West, mostly of weddings and families. He was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, where he sang with the St. Cecilia's Choir. Danny was also a member of the West V.F.W. Post No. 4819 and the K.J.T. Society No. 31. He was recognized as the West Citizen of the Year in 1999 and served as the Westfest Parade Marshal with his wife in 1996. Danny enjoyed being known as an unofficial West Historian and for his stories and jokes. He especially loved spending time with his family. Danny is preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth; two grandsons, Thumper Nicely and Neil Dempsey; and a daughter-in-law, Carla (Kaddatz) Urbanovsky. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Lillian Urbanovsky of West; a sister, Doris Gayden of Waco; two sons, Gary Urbanovsky of Waco and Don Urbanovsky and wife Pam of West; two daughters, Gail Dempsey and husband Jim of Keller and Diane Nicely and husband Chuck of Tomball; a close family friend, Ginger Kutscherousky of West;12 grandchildren, Nikki Hall and husband Darrin, Julie Kirkpatrick and husband Tommy, Jody Urbanovsky, Denise Mayen and husband Yobany, Sarah Janecka and husband Bobby, Lisa Dempsey, Kevin Urbanovsky and wife Tiffany, Colin and Kayla Urbanovsky, and John, Jennifer, and Jeremy Nicely; 6 great grandsons, Ace and Austin Hall, Brandon Yuska, and Jace, Gage, Koby Kirkpatrick, and baby Mayen on the way; a great granddaughter, Contessa Mayen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Jody Urbanovsky, Kevin Urbanovsky, Colin Urbanovsky, John Nicely, Jeremy Nicely, Ace Hall and Austin Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Dempsey, Chuck Nicely, Darrin Hall, Tommy Kirkpatrick, Yobany Mayen, and Bobby Janecka. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Ministerial Alliance, West Senior Center and St. Mary's Church Choir Program.
