Dan Guin, age 39, of Waco, passed away early Monday morning, December 22, 2008 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Closner Cemetery near West, with Rev. George Elvis McCart officiating. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Dan was born on January 29, 1969 in San Diego, CA, the son of Daniel Guin and Patricia Monahan. He graduated from Richfield High School and attended McLennan Community College. Dan was a manager for several motels including, Motel 6 in Irving, Fairfield Inn in Waco, and Hampton Inn in Temple. He also worked for the Southland Corporation, which is the owner of 7-11. Dan was a very talented artist and had just signed a contract for a comic book series called Blood Red comic books. He enjoyed collecting Star Trek memorabilia, working on his computer, and UFO investigations. He is preceded in death by his natural parents, Patricia and Daniel Guin. Survivors include his parents, James and JoAnn Guin of Waco; six brothers, James F. Guin, Jr. of Waco, Wayne Guin and wife Stephanie of Jacksonville, FL, Carson Ray Guin and wife Cynthia of Klondike, LA, Wesley Shealey and wife Jennifer of Fishers, IN, Kevin Hardy and Brian Hardy, both of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Wendy Wade and husband Eric of Union, MO and Peggy Powell and husband Calvin of Huntsville, AR; several nieces and nephews, including Courtney Seale; and many other relatives and friends, including Tom Dahl. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Dahl, Paul Ascher, Eric Wade, Wayne Guin, James Guin Jr, and Eddy Smith. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
