Dalton E. "Skip" Tynes, age 75, of Waco, passed away early Monday morning, March 10, 2008 at Providence Healthcare Center in Waco. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Tynes was born on February 13, 1933 in Waco, the son of Luther William and Alma Gates (Scott) Tynes. He graduated from La Vega High School and Providence Hospital School of Nursing in 1955 as a Registered Nurse. He also attended Texas A & I in Kingsville and TCU in Ft. Worth. On February 11, 1955, he was united in marriage to Joyce Marie Cocek. He worked for the Providence Emergency Room after his graduation and then later went to work for the Waco Veterans Administration for over thirty years until his retirement in 1990. Dalton "Skip" served as Mayor for the City of Northcrest in the early 1980's. He loved to takes pictures, especially of his grandchildren and his two baby dogs, Fritz and Freda. He enjoyed taking pictures, reading, and coaching Little League Baseball. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1358 of Waco. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Joyce Tynes of Waco; three sons, William Tynes of Waco, Phillip Tynes and wife Tracy of Chalk Bluff and Blake Tynes of Austin; two daughters, Dalene London and husband Carl of Lorena and Ann Goldsmith and husband Michael of Waco; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; his baby dogs, Fritz and Freda; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Tynes, Skylar Davis, Joshua Tynes, Mitchell Tynes, Bradley McCafferty, and Jacob Tynes. Honorary pallbearers will be Samson Tynes, Dustin Davis and Justin Goldsmith. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
