Dale Dean Heitmiller

Dale Dean Heitmiller, age 43, of West, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 19, 2009 at his residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 1:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek and Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrants. Burial will follow at Closner Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Dale was born July 22, 1965 in Amarillo, the son of Kenneth Kyle and Donna Lee (Fowlkes) Heitmiller. He attended West schools and West High School, where he participated in Rodeo and sports before graduating in 1983. He was the owner of Dale Heitmiller's Original Outlaw Steakhouse and Saloon in Hubbard. He began his love of the restaurant business with the inspiration of Charles and Irene Mueller, who owned Lone Star Tavern in Waco. Dale was also a co-owner of the world renowned steakhouse in Elm Mott, Heitmiller's Family Steakhouse, with his parents for almost 20 years. Dale served for two terms as the president of the Waco Restaurant Association. He was also a member of the Texas Restaurant Association, the Bellmead Chamber of Commerce, the Bellmead Loin's Club, the men's Acts Mission, and the West Knights of Columbus Council #2305. Dale was absolutely the best at entertaining with food and won numerous top honors at the Louisiana Crawfish Boils. He enjoyed donating his time and talents for many area golf tournaments and benefits. His father, K. K. Heitmiller; his paternal grandparents, Fred and Grace Heitmiller; and his maternal grandparents, Noble and Peggy Fowlkes, all preceded him in death. Survivors include his son, Clayton Hunter Heitmiller; his mother, Donna Heitmiller; a very special friend, Delaine Wolf; three sisters, Shanna Narath, Peggy Pustejovsky, and Melanie Urbis; a brother, Kyle Heitmiller; his aunt, Peggy Vanzura; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Kevin Petty, Thomas Wolf, Robert Breedlove, Richard Busby, Ron Norman, Jerred Eakins, Roy Fryer, Beau Heitmiller, Jeff Pustejovsky, and Rob Nelson. Honorary pallbearers are all employees of Dale Heitmiller's Original Outlaw Steakhouse and Saloon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a scholarship fund for his son, Clayton Hunter Heitmiller at PointWest Bank, 200 W. Oak St., West, TX 76691.
