Cole Hagen Simmons, age 23, of West, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 30, 2021 the result of a motor vehicle accident after following his shift with the Harker Heights Fire Department. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, with Rev. Jesse Motley officiating. Burial will follow at New Lebanon Cemetery near Aquilla with Firefighter Honors. Cole will lie-in-state from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Cole was born November 17, 1998 in Hillsboro, the son of Chris Simmons and Christa (Mozley) Simmons. He attended Aquilla and West schools and was a 2017 graduate of West High School. Cole was very athletic, excelled in baseball, was a Trojan Letterman, and was very proud of being part of the two time State Champion West Baseball team in 2015 and 2016. He also played football, basketball, and ran track. In his senior year, he won the "Red Sock Award" for his determination in striving to be the best in all he did. Cole was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aquilla. He was a Firefighter/EMT for the Harker Heights Fire Department since August of 2021. Cole also worked for Bud's Tiger Stop, City of Whitney Emergency Medical Services, and mowed lawns with his Papa. He enjoyed going to concerts with his friends, golfing, fishing, playing Frisbee golf, and was an avid fan of the Texas A&M Aggie's. He never met a stranger, had a good sense of humor, was always smiling, and enjoyed hanging out with his friends. Cole loved spending time with his family, especially keeping up with his sister Claire and never missed any of her activities or sporting events. Survivors include his father, Chris Simmons and wife Samantha of Clifton; his mother, Christa Simmons and Ron Norman and Ron's daughter Baylie, of West; his sister, Claire Simmons and Tyler Kaluza of West; step sisters, Lacey and Haley Duncan; paternal grandparents, Michael "Papa" and Shelia "Maw" Simmons; maternal grandparents, Michael and Marilyn Mozley; his paternal great grandmother, Joyce Miller; aunts and uncles, Robin and Chris Harwell, Stephanie and Jason Soule, Clayton and Jamie Simmons and Roy Mozley; and many other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Bobby Morgan, Devin Coleman, Garrett Graham, Chisum Rieger, Chris Hovde, Dalton Wiethorn, Dylan Miller, Jarek Rozyskie, Hadley Cammack, Hunter Bleidt, and James Hollingsworth. Honorary pallbearers are members of the West High School Class of 2017 and the Harker Heights Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Scholarship Fund for his sister Claire, a Scholarship Fund for a West High School graduate who wants to be a Firefighter/EMT/Paramedic or to a fund for the family to help with final expenses (see the "Tribute Fund" tab or "Donate Now" button above obituary, or mail to P.O.
