Clyde Novotny

Frances Claudine "Clyde" Marek Novotny 92, passed away April 22, 2006 in Boerne from complications following a stroke. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at Fatima Cemetery in Abbott. with Father Vincent Chacko, IMS officiating. Clyde was born March 9, 1914 in Hill County, the fourth of nine children to Adolph H. and Lucy Horsak Marek. Clyde's teenage years were spent in Hillsboro where she worked in the family's Sanitary Meat Market on the square. Clyde married Jerry E. Novotny in August 1933, and moved to Abbott. She was very active in the community and church and taught at both Abbott School and St. Mary's School in West. She served in many offices in the PTA and KJZT #104. Her abilities as a seamstress were put to use for friends and family. After her husband's death in 1968, she lived near her family in Dallas, West and Boerne. In addition to her husband of 35 years, Clyde was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ben F. Marek and seven of her siblings, brother Al D. Wesley (Buck), Bill and Eugene Marek and sisters Willie Mae and Edith Marek and Maurine Marek Beseda. Clyde is survived by her daughters Pat Marek of Coppell and Suzanne Jackson and husband Barry of Boerne; grandchildren Benet Marek Martin and husband Scott, Matthew and Maria Marek, Andrew and Ann Marie Marek, Jay Jackson and Julie Jackson Hutson and husband Preston; and five great grandchildren Benjamin Marek, Marek Martin, Kyle and Alexandria Hutson, and Sierra Jackson. She is also survived by her sister,Sister Allene Marek, DC of Hewitt and her aunt Frances Novak of West, sisters-in-law Olga Novotny of Abbott and Bertha Novotny Trainer and husband Wyatt of Marble Falls, and thirty nieces and nephews.
